FIRST CITY ART CENTER SATURDAY RAKU FIRINGS SLATED FOR APRIL 20 AND JUNE 1

First City Art Center is now accepting sign ups for its upcoming Raku firings with instructor Ben Twingley, on Sat., Apr. 20 and again on Sat., June 1 from 9 a.m. – Noon. Firing fee is $30 and group size is limited to 6 participants. Firings will be held at First City Art Center, 1060 N. Guillemard St.

Participants are encouraged to arrive by 8:30 a.m. to have their raku pots glazed and ready for firing by 9 a.m. Participants are also welcome to bring their own cans with lids, welding gloves, and Raku tongs. First City Art Center pottery studio tools are also available for use.

FIRST CITY ART CENTER GALLERY’S NEWEST SHOW AND OPEN HOUSE SET FOR MAR. 22 & 23.

Artists from the First City Art Center Studios will open their latest show in conjunction with the “Hot Glass Cold Brew” Spring Fling Edition and Spring Pottery Sale events at First City Art Center at 1060 N. Guillemard St. on Fri., Mar. 22 from 5-9 p.m. and Sat. Mar. 23 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m.
Artists will be on hand to greet visitors, share their work, and demonstrate technique on both Fri. Mar. 22 and Sat. Mar. 23. Entry and tours of the artist’s studios and gallery space are FREE. The Gallery artists are: Thomas Asmuth, Marzia Ransom, Dianne Collins, Jennifer Fleming, Sherrie Mitchel, Shawna Fulton, Pat Regan, Joe Thompson, Sam Cornman, Kathryn Frizzell, Ashley Koch, Palmer Segner, and Payton Gellner. These artists work in a wide range of media including: painting, drawing, sculpture, glass, ceramics, mixed media jewelry, photography, and digital processes.

The new show in the gallery will be open to the public through Apr. 30, 2013. Gallery hours are Mon-Fri. 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.

FIRST CITY ART CENTER’S POPULAR “HOT GLASS, COLD BREW” SPRING FLING EDITION EVENT SET FOR FRI. MAR. 22

The First City Art Center’s (FCA) HOT GLASS, COLD BREW Spring Fling Edition event takes place on Fri., Mar. 22 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at its location at 1060 N. Guillemard St. (on the corner of Guillemard and Gonzalez Streets).  A suggested donation of $25 for non-members and $20 for members gets patrons a one-of-a-kind hand-blown glass cup or clay mug that they can fill with complimentary beverages all evening long.  Join the First City Glass and Pottery Artists to celebrate the coming of spring and have a chance to create your own glass flower.  As FCA’s glass and pottery artists demonstrate their creative skills, raffle tickets will be drawn each half-hour with the winner being given the chance create their own unique glass flower.  All event patrons will receive a raffle ticket upon entrance and be eligible to win all evening long.  All winners must be present to win.

Patrons will enjoy complimentary pizza, brew courtesy of Pensacola Bay Brewery and a couple of special brews by the Escambia Bay Homebrews; alcoholic* and non-alcoholic beverages, live music by 18 String Army, live art demos and a new show in the gallery.  Arrive early since these collector cups go fast!  Sponsored by Pensacola Energy and Creative Instinct Sign & Graphics.

FIRST CITY ART CENTER SPRING POTTERY SALE SET FOR FRIDAY AND SATURDAY, MAR. 22 & 23

First City Art Center Pottery Guild members will be showcasing and selling a variety of hand-thrown pottery pieces on Friday, Mar. 22, in conjunction with the “Hot Glass, Cold Brew” event from 5 – 9 pm and on Sat., Mar. 23 from 10am – 2pm. The Pottery guild will feature one-of-a-kind creations in clay. This exhibit/sale will take place at First City Art Center at 1060 N. Guillemard St. This exclusive event will enable patrons to see what is created at First City Art Center’s pottery studio and purchase unique items at various, yet affordable, price ranges. Funds raised will go towards the purchase of new equipment for First City Art Center Pottery Studio.
