Saturday: Creating with Clay for Kids
Creating with clay for kids is offered as a two class program on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month.
In this fun beginner hand building class, children will learn how to make their own masterpieces with coil, slab, and pinching techniques. Projects include 3-D creations such as bowls, vessels, boxes with lids, and sculptural pieces. Working with clay helps children develop problem-solving and fine motor skills, and encourages imagination, initiative, and curiosity.
Students will be using regular clay and glaze, and will also experiment with air dry and polymer clay. In this 2 class session, the first week students will make objects using regular clay, and they will be able to decorate and glaze the pieces in the second week.
This introduction into the process of ceramics requires firing pieces in the kiln, so the artworks may have to be picked up a week or two after the class. You will be informed by the instructor if you will need to pick up your finished pieces!
Saturday Morning Art Class
SMAC is a one day class offered every first and third Saturday of the month.
