This week we'll learn about some of the many plants, animals, and insects that live in our local ecosystems! From the bees that make our honey to the longleaf pine trees, we’ll be inspired by the beauty of nature we experience everyday to create art to better understand the world around us.

Get ready to dive in! This week campers will learn about the infinite number of creatures that live in our oceans. From colossal squid to phytoplankton we’ll explore their unique designs and how they use them in their environment.

This week campers will learn about the systems in our body and find inspiration from our anatomy! From the microscopic patterns to the intricacies of our skeletons we’ll appreciate the ways our systems work together to influence the art we make to celebrate how our bodies keep us thriving!

We’ll take a look at art across all continents of the world to see how societies have developed arts and cultures in various ways from region to region. Focusing on exploring new processes to familiar mediums we will expand our understanding of technique and expression.

This week we will be exploring the ways that the visual arts and performing arts have come together to inspire each other and create new works of art! Campers will get to create their own visual art inspired by their favorite music, construct instruments, and learn how the two types of art have influenced culture throughout history.

Campers will be immersed in the folklores and legends of creatures that come from mysterious waters. Projects will feature myths such as the lost city of Atlantis, the Loch Ness monster, sirens, merfolk, and more!

From Big Foot to fairies, this week we’ll brave the tall tales of creatures from all over the world. Campers will bring them to life through sculptures, paintings, clay, and more!

We’ll shoot for the stars this week exploring all things outer space! Pulling inspiration from the beauty across the galaxies and the sciences that have made space exploration possible.

The magic of art will be explored as campers make spell books, wizard hats, color changing creations, and more! Campers will experience the transformative qualities of various mediums and processes to inspire a magic of their own.

This week focuses on how technological developments and the arts are inseparable and used together to advance possibilities! From the development of cameras and photography to the current rapidly evolving digital age, campers will learn about the history of certain technologies and how they affect our arts today.

Creatisphere Summer Art Camp

2026 registration is open to FCAC Members. General registration will open March 20th. Email create@firstcityart.org to be added to the emailing list for updates. 

Creatisphere inspires children through active learning, and hands-on exploration. The camp offers creative guided step by step projects, in which children are encouraged to experiment, innovate, and create.

Weekly Projects Include Pottery, Drawing, Sculpture, Collage, 3-D Design, Storytelling, Mixed Media, Painting, Printmaking, Glass, Textiles, and More!

STEAM, history, conservation, world cultures, and games are incorporated into the weekly themes.

Creatisphere will include a kiln formed glass experience as well as a kiln fired clay project. Campers will also get to see artists making blown glass, learn about the science behind glass blowing, and ask questions! Discovery, movement, and play are an important balance to inside classroom time at Creatisphere Summer Camp. Campers will spend break-times outside observing nature, or visiting the labyrinth and Long Hollow art park adjacent to our campus.

Requirements

  • Please send your child with 2 snacks, lunch, and a refillable (non-throw away) water bottle.

  • Weekly Camps: May 25th - August 7th
  • Camp Hours: 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. *Extended Care Available 8-9 a.m. & 4-5 p.m.
  • Ages 5-12

Cancellation Policy

Students will receive a refund of tuition minus 10% if the student contacts us no later than 7 days prior to the first day of class. Cancellations up to 48 hours before the start of the class will receive a 50% refund. Any cancellations within 48 hours before the start of the class, or after the class has begun will not be refunded. In the case of an emergency, the student may be able to transfer their payment towards another class based on availability.

If you need to move your enrollment to another session you must contact us at least 7 days prior to the start of the class. You cannot move enrollment forward after a class has already begun.

Class sizes are limited and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Unfortunately, FCAC is unable to prorate students for missed classes or classes that they are unable to attend.
